For POPPY VINTAGE, AWA uses a wide variety of vintage textiles, from clothing, interior decoration or household linen, such as tablecloths, towels, tea towels, various garments, scarves that are no longer worn, ancient fabrics, worn by time and use, even with snags or imperfections. In a spirit of craftsmanship, we give them a second life by cutting out the most beautifully printed parts or pieces of embroidered motifs. This is a way of highlighting the quality textiles of yesteryear, often handmade, tailoring creations that did sometimes require countless hours of work, and which today bear a long-gone relationship to time, which is the very opposite of immediate consumption. Once selected, the motifs are applied to a Loden fabric (a very dense woolen felted fabric), then a buttonhole is embroidered.
AWA’s creations of unusual jewellery and of transformation accessories are based on the principles of recovery, diversion, repair and communication.
AWA is bringing of a new way in design which, by combining familiar elements and current techniques, improves and transforms an object into another. We design “enlightened” accessories open to the possibilities of individual combinations that do bear values mixed between the past and the future so as to live in an eco-friendly present.

Rework of old textiles to make button brooches, unique pieces in limited series
AWA offers these items in the tradition of textile accessories, such as bow ties, buttonholes (a fabric flower mounted on a pin) or handkerchiefs that were once folded in the breast pocket. These lost, or almost lost, clothing practices nevertheless provide contrast, sparkle, a touch of communication, and sometimes one of humour.
